New Year’s Resolution to Organize Your Home

New Year's Resolutions To Organize Your Home

Cheers to a New Year! As we approach 2021, it’s that time of year to think about your New Year’s Resolution. We often set high, overwhelming goals that seem achievable, but as we get back into a routine after the holidays, they are often ditched by the time February rolls around.

This year, we encourage you to follow these tangible resolutions to keep your home clean and organized that will translate into realistic long-term habits!

  1. Declutter your most frequently used rooms and spaces, such as entryways, kitchen counters, nightstands, and closets. Start with the kitchen – wipe down, clean out, and organize your fridge, followed by a facelift to your disorganized pantry or cabinet space! Don’t know where to start? 2. Check your safety hazards. Are your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors installed and working properly? Other small tips include inspecting your fire extinguisher, discarding of dryer lint, unplugging unused appliances, and putting away any substances that could be poisonous to children or pets.
  3. Put away clothes and coats scattered around the house – we know it’s tempting to throw it on a chair, basket, or even the closet floor to deal with later, but take the extra two minutes to hang it in a closet or tuck it in a drawer – tomorrow you’ll be thanking yourself!
  4. Keep a donation box in your closet and set an expiration date for yourself – if you haven’t worn it in six months to a year, it’s time to donate (excluding seasonal clothing).
