Founded in 1977
The Cleaning Authority was founded in 1977. It was one of the first team-cleaning concepts in the Baltimore-Washington metro area. The demand for this type of service, coupled with an outstanding reputation for quality, caught the attention of Steve Robinson and Tim Evankovich. In June of 1989, Steve and Tim purchased the company and continued the commitment to quality service and dedication to the customer.

Innovation For the next several years, the new owners worked diligently in their quest to build the most professional cleaning service in the country. They started by streamlining the home cleaning process with their unique Detail-Clean Rotation System, and developed an innovative employee incentive package that would attract and help keep good employees. Management also realized that to compete in the years to come, they needed a computer software program that would address the day-to-day challenges that all cleaning services face. Work was immediately begun to develop a proprietary program that would address every management and operational function of the business.

Owners as Consultants
Because of their success in the residential cleaning business, Steve and Tim were approached by people from across the country to assist them in launching other residential cleaning services. Beginning in 1991, Steve and Tim helped three maid services become successful in Nashville, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Plano, Texas. All three of these companies have since become franchises of The Cleaning Authority.

Branch Offices Opened
In 1994 decisions were made to open several branch offices in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. By using the cleaning and computer software systems that Steve and Tim had developed over the last several years, along with their consulting experience and their successful marketing program, the company grew from 400 customers to over 800 customers in less than 10 months.

Franchising Begins
In 1996, with seven years of success behind them, the owners decided that franchising would be the key to successful expansion into new markets throughout the country. By sharing proven strategies and proprietary software, along with commitment and determination, The Cleaning Authority now offers franchise owners an incomparable business opportunity in the house cleaning services industry.
