An Update from Our Franchise Owners: Pearland and League City, Jas and Taj Grewal

The Cleaning Authority Franchise Owners: Jas and Taj Grewal

Starting something new can be challenging. Getting up and running with a new franchise takes hard work, perseverance, and patience. We checked in four years after Jas and Taj Grewal added the Pearland office to their existing franchise in League City, Texas to see how their journey has been.

From the beginning, Jas and Taj Grewal considered purchasing a franchise to optimize their work/life balance. “We considered multiple franchises, but The Cleaning Authority stood out right away,” said Jas. “The level of support provided to the franchise owners combined with the infrastructure and software showed us this was a great opportunity. By talking with other franchise owners who repeated the same thing, we knew this was the one.”

The Pearland territory was added several years later. “When the neighboring franchise came up for sale, it was the right opportunity to expand our footprint and provide growth,” said Taj. “Owning two offices has gone smoothly. We treat them as one unit where there is no competition between them.”

“The right management team is a key part of the success of a franchise. We combined the two teams keeping a general manager at each location,” remarked Taj. “There is also a sales manager and a quality manager. We all interact daily through regular meetings and use digital communication through the apps Slack and Trello.”

Taj points out, “If you are considering the purchase of an additional office, ensure that your first office has solid management. That allows you the freedom to focus on the newly purchased office without leaving the first one to struggle on its own.”

Taj gives sound advice to newcomers to the franchise world: “Maintain the status quo. Don’t come in thinking you need to change everything. Most importantly, build a management team that is empowered to tell you more than just yes." He goes on to say, "Since we started in League City, and now in Pearland too, we’ve aimed to empower our managers to make their own decisions and to stand up for themselves. When you empower your managers, it helps them to become more proactive and contributes to the overall success.”
