How to Clean Every Blanket You’ll Use This Winter

It’s that time of year where all of the extra blankets come out—a few throw blankets in the living room, a heated blanket in the bed, extra blankets in the kids rooms, you might even have a blanket at work.

Of course, not all of these blankets can simply be washed in the washer and dryer easily. So, we’ve pulled together a list of how to clean your favorite winter blankets.

Crochet Blanket- Hand wash your favorite crochet blankets with a mild detergent in cold water. Gently soak and work the soap in, but don’t scrub hard. Rinse with cold water, and dry it by laying the blanket flat on top of an old towel.

Heated Blanket- First and foremost, be sure to unplug your blanket and remove all cords before starting. Soak the blanket in lukewarm water mixed with mild laundry detergent for 15 minutes. Once completed, rinse and squeeze to remove access water, but don’t wring it. Then, you can hang dry the blanket. Be sure to stretch out the blanket to its original shape first.

Fleece Blanket- These blankets can be washed in the washing machine, but should only be washed with other fleece items to avoid abrasion. Wash on the gentle cycle with warm water. When done, put in the dryer on the gentle cycle.

Wool Blanket- You can air clean your blanket by hanging it up indoors in an area with a lot of air circulation. You can also set up fans to get air moving more.

Once you’re wrapped up in your clean, cozy blanket, the last thing you’ll want to do is clean. Let the professionals handle the cleaning instead so you can relax! Visit The Cleaning Authority today for a free online estimate.
